 MAYOR'S COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS

The Mayor's Community Service Awards were presented this year at Wauconda Fest. The recipients accepted their awards humbly and on behalf of all those that serve our community. 

Congratulations to the following recipients:

Gayle Niggemann - Gayle has volunteered her time to number of community organizations, including the Wauconda Township’s Soccer Association, the Wauconda Booster Board, fund-raising chairperson for Wauconda School District’s PTO. She is also a recent member of the Wauconda Fire District Board.

Gayle and her son volunteer their time for speaking engagements against drinking and driving. She also serves on a victim impact panel for teens.

Steve Boehmer - Steve owns and operates a family owned business that has been in our community over 90 years. He is past President of the Chamber of Commerce and has consistently contributed his time to support charitable events in our community. Steve is an excellent role model for those interested in community involvement.

Kavita Grewal - Kavita is a high school winner that consistently volunteers at school events. She is Vice-President of the High School's National Honor Society and Secretary of the Student Council. Kavita excels academically, tutors math students, and is a member of P.E.A.C.E. (People Educating and Cultivating Elderly). She volunteers at Good Shepherd Hospital and her compassionate efforts have touched the lives of many.

Connor Dimick - Connor is a high school winner who is an excellent student and athlete. He tutors students in math and is a member of P.E.A.C.E. (People Educating and Cultivating Elderly). He is a volunteer for the Adopt-a-Highway Program and is dedicated to giving back to our community.
