Public Works Conducting Water Main Flushing
The Village of Wauconda Water Division will begin conducting a system-wide water main flushing program, beginning Thursday, August 8th between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM. The work is expected to last for approximately two to three weeks. The purpose of the water main flushing is to turnover stagnant water, flush mineral deposit build up, scour and clean piping, and inspect hydrants.
2024 Smoke Testing
Beginning the week of August 5, 2024, Duke’s Root Control, Inc. will be conducting routine smoke testing in select areas of Wauconda. This preventative maintenance process does not impact any operation of the sewer nor will there be any disruption of service at any point. Smoke used during testing is a non-toxic, non-flammable liquid smoke. Residents who are in the area of testing will receive a pink informational door tag explaining how to prepare for the test and what to expect.
Public Works Department Conducting Dye Testing of Sewers
The Public Works Department will be conducting dyed-water testing in the vicinity of Lake Shore Boulevard and Sunnyside Avenue starting the week of July 22, 2024. The program goals are to find and eliminate sources of storm/ground water that enter the sanitary sewer system during rain events, which can overload the sewers and potentially cause backups.
