WHAT TO EXPECT: Peter Baker is targeting Monday August 7 to start the final surface layer of asphalt (starting location pending) with paving anticipated throughout the week. We thank you in advance for your patience as there may be small intervals where driveway access could be interrupted. Allowing the asphalt to cool down is necessary to having a great paving project. 
 
Update 7/24/2023

The Village of Wauconda 2023 Water Main Replacement & Street Improvement Project is well underway. The project is split into two separate phases of construction, North and South. The downtown section is substantially complete with work on-going in Hubbard Woods and Kent Avenue improvements starting imminently. The Village and HMG Engineers, Inc. will provide weekly updates as they become available to provide the residents of Wauconda the most up-to-date information available. Update 7/13/2023

What to expect North Project:
The Village of Wauconda 2023 Street Improvement Project (North) is underway with the construction having started on July 3rd. The project consists of storm sewer repairs, curb & sidewalk re-placement, asphalt milling and placement of varying depths of new asphalt. The project scope consists of Wauconda Road, Water Stone Subdivision, Apple Ridge Estates, Apple Country Subdivision, Karl Court & Dato Lane. See schedule below for updates as each phase of the project advances. The Village and HMG Engineers, Inc. will provide weekly updates as they become available to provide the residents and business owners of Wauconda the most up-to-date information.
What to expect South Project: Final WATER MAIN improvements will be scheduled for the week of July 17.
ROADWAY final surface paving is to be performed on July 13. This will be a big day of paving and we appreciate everyone’s patience as the contractor completes this portion of the project.
A brief pause in activity will be experienced as landscape restoration will not commence until August 15. This is to comply with State seeding requirements.

WHAT TO EXPECT (HUBBARD WOODS):The installation of the water main is on-going with Helena Avenue final connections made and George Avenue pending. Orton Avenue water main is currently being installed. Individual service installations are expected to begin next week pending testing and chlorination of the new water main. Please flush your plumbing fixtures as outlined in the mailer previously distributed upon connection to the new main. Sanitary and storm sewer improvements will follow the completion of the water main.

WATER MAIN improvements will be complete this week and water services reconnections are ongoing. All water related improvements will be complete this week.

ROADWAY improvements are on-going for the second phase of the project. Concrete curb continues to be removed and some replacement started today. Specific residents received a letter regarding driveway access. Asphalt milling is scheduled for next week followed immediately by base patching and binder asphalt installation. Final utility adjustments will occur the week of the 3rd and final surface asphalt will follow immediately.

The Hubbard Woods and Kent Avenue improvements will have a slight start delay until the water main has been completed in the first phase area. See below for updates for each phase as the project progresses. The Village and HMG Engineers, Inc. will provide updates as they become available to provide the residents of Wauconda the most up-to-date information available.
 

Updates 5/22/23
Sanitary sewer spot repairs are complete. The water main (blue) installation will commence on Bangs Street and Church Street the week of 5/22. A bore and jack installation is tentatively schedule under IL Rte. 176 for Wednesday and Thursday. This will require a large excavation in the roadway and a subsequent shut down of Bangs Street starting Tuesday. The contractor will provide barricades identifying the closure. Water main drilling will also commence on Church St with no road closure required.

 

South Project - The Village of Wauconda continues to invest in improving the condition of its streets and has also identified streets that require water main replacement due to age, material, and size. As part of our Village-wide evaluation of the condition of the streets, multiple streets were chosen as a priority for this year’s program. The project is overseen by the Village’s engineering firm HMG Engineers, Inc. Please refer to the project location map to better identify the limits of the street improvements listed below. All residents will have access to their driveway except if a curb replacement is identified for their driveway. Driveway closures should be temporary and not for the duration of the project. Please park all vehicles in your driveways during the project duration except for those impacted by the curb replacement. Please use caution while driving through construction.
