Maintenance Service Technician - Public Works Department

The Village of Wauconda (population of 14,125) located in Lake County, Illinois is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Service Technician in the Public Works Department.
This position requires operating a variety of equipment and vehicles utilized in construction, maintenance and repair activities and performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in street maintenance, snow and ice control, storm drainage systems, public sewer systems, and building maintenance. Applicants must have a background in construction, carpentry, electrical and/or facility maintenance, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Lift Station experience is highly desirable.
Applicants are required to possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a valid State of Illinois Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a tanker endorsement or have the ability to obtain one within 120 days from date of employment. Candidate must have the ability to be on-call and/or work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, extended and non-standard hours. This includes participation in snow and ice control operations and other Public Works operations as directed. Successful candidates must complete/pass a background check, a pre-employment physical and a drug screen.

The current starting wage is $23.85 per hour ($49,605.40 annually). This is a union position.
